Login Page


Secure Login Page ... after clicking "Use Secure Login" in above image.


User Start Page ... after logging in with the user password. Note the two publication links under "See all records from". Clicking on this will return all records with the corresponding publication field.


Publication Link Results ... after clicking on "Lane et al,.2006" link in above image.


Jump to Menu ... allows you to quickly jump to a specific record.


Record View Page ... You can perform different actions such as modify, attach file, email, print, or delete this record using the icons on the right-hand side of the record.


Record Add Form ... After clicking the Add Record icon on the top menu. Note that fields with "Auto-Complete" next to them can be automatically completed using the current values in the database. The see a list of the current choices you hit the down arrow and select your choice. Or you can simply start typing and a list of the previous values will be displayed. You can also add a new value not in the list.


Record Modify Form ... After clicking on the records Modify icon. Note the Auto-Complete fields.


Attach File Form ... After clicking on the records Attach File icon. You can attach any type of file you wish to a record such as a pdf of its associated paper or an annotated sequence file.


Record E-mail Form ... After clicking on the records E-mail icon. Allows you to quickly sent a viewing only link to a specific person via e-mail. The message template can be customized in the Admin Preferences Section. (This can be turned off in the Admin Preferences Section)


Multiple Record View ... Multiple records from search results or database records can be displayed at once. In order, to help view many records at once you can collapse and expand each records details using its Collapse and Expand icons. You can also collapse and expand all of the visible records the top menu's Collapse/Expand All icons.


Advanced Search Form ... In addition, to being able to quickly enter Boolean (and/or/not) searches in the top right-hand side search box, you can also enter complex searches over combinations of specific fields. Note the Auto-Complete fields.


Search Results Page ... The number of records which match your search criteria will be displayed at the top of the search results which are shown in a multiple record view. You can also quickly change your search options using the "Refine Search" Link.


Public Viewing Only Record View ... You can mark records to be optionally available to the public without requiring them to login. The will not be able to modify the records. In addition, all records marked as public will be searchable by public user using the top right-hand search box and the advanced search form. If a publication link is present on the Start page only the public records associated with the publication will be returned. (This can be turned off in the Admin Preferences Section)


Public Request Clone ... Public users can click on the Request Clone link to quickly request a particular strain. The message template can be customized in the Admin Preferences Section. (This can be turned off in the Admin Preferences Section)


Admin Login Page ... To login as the admin you click the bottom left-hand "Admin Page" Link. You then enter the admin password if you have not already done so.


Admin Preferences Section ... The admin can control many aspects of the database from the admin sections. The Preference Section lets you control many more aspects of the database then shown in the following screenshot.


Admin Field Properties Section ... You can control which fields are to be Auto-Completed, which to include in the Advanced Search Form, and which fields are to be automatically shown in each record.


Admin Modify Database Fields Section ... You quickly modify each fields displayed description as well as delete them.


Admin Add New Database Field Section ... You can also quickly add new fields to the database.


Admin Upload Database Section ... If you have an existing database you can upload it to the system after doing some basic formatting to it in Excel.


Admin Backup Section ... Your data is critically important as such the system allows you to backup and restore your database including attachments using this Section. Please carefully read all suggestions on this page before using the system.


Admin Status Section ... You can use a supplied script to remotely monitor your system. If the script cannot connect to the database then it will send you a e-mail indicating the problem.
